In this role, you'll provide direction and guidance to a team of 4 Regional Directors and over 24 Clinical Transformation Consultants throughout the region who are accountable for engaging with over 80 provider groups who service 1M members and represent $4B in medical spend to drive improved performance through practice transformation. The VP Accountable Care, Northeast Region Operations will report directly to the National VP of Accountable Care with accountability for health system relationships in the Northeast geography of the UnitedHealthcare (UHC) national footprint. This includes the strategic vision, provider relationship development and operational execution of a team of Regional Directors, Clinical Transformation Consultants and analytic / business operations support staff in the Region for the dedicated portfolio with support from the respective VP??s of Strategy and Operations for the respective Lines of Business and IT Business Enablement. The team will be engaged in day to day interaction with their assigned provider groups to improve operations through clinical transformation. The portfolio will be managed in close collaboration with the Executive Market Leadership in the Northeast Region for Medicare & Retirement, Employer & Individual and Community & State Lines of Business. This leader will drive provider NPS, develop and implement short- and long-range plans that will enhance the growth, operating efficiency, improved quality / STARs, and bottom-line accountability within the portfolio. The role has responsibility across the region to drive critical decisions and execution in a high-growth and dynamic environment. Primary Responsibilities: Provide leadership to a team of 4 Regional Directors and over 24 Clinical Transformation Consultants in the region, who are charged with engaging over 80 provider groups to drive improved quality, reduced cost and improved patient experienceAchieve utilization, quality and cost goals for the assigned provider groups in the Northeast RegionAchieve a minimum of 4.5 Stars for Medicare providers in the Northeast Region.Drive improved operational execution for the Northeast Region team, reducing variability and improving quality of interactions with the Northeast Region portfolio, in partnership with Accountable Care Line of Business VPsDevelop strong relationships with market leaders across Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial lines of business in the Northeast Region, ensuring regular formal progress reports and review sessions are completedMonitor performance of the team and the assigned portfolio of provider groups, instituting improvement plans where gaps may existSupport adoption of enterprise technology for the Clinical Transformation Consultants and the assigned provider groups, identifying technology gaps where they may exist with solutioning as neededProvide work direction to Business Operations leader, and matrix Program Management and Analytics resources.Develop strong working relationships with Matrix leaders in the region, including UnitedHealth Networks, Healthcare Economics and Clinician LeadersOversee completion of periodic operational reporting and Clinical Transformation Consultant team and provider activitiesSupport Innovation by challenging the status quo in all operations, identifying new processes and strategies to pursue, and supporting new national innovation pilots in the Northeast RegionDrive Innovation by identifying and collaborating with external partners that have potential solutions which can be tested or deployed at scale as solutions to UHC business challenges Work collaboratively across the Northeast Region and all Lines of Business to ensure the right individuals are involved and to identify and resolve any issues or conflicts Lead and drive large-scale initiatives by providing strategic direction, partnering with enterprise executives and influencing leaders across the Northeast Region deliver on the outcomes that support our Quality, Affordability, NPS and growth agendaDevelop and implement short and long term plans that enhance the growth, operating discipline and accountability for the Northeast Region Accountable Care team and Health Systems in the Northeast RegionProvide leadership to inspire and motivate teams for engagement, productivity, values and performancePartner closely with Optum / Optumcare to maximize local market engagement, growth, and performanceDrive improved NPS in partnership with the NPS team to understand and address market variabilityDevelop and promote a talent management plan that provides a strong and deep level of ready now talent to enable our growth Required Qualifications: BS / BA degree in business, health care administration or related field 10+ years of progressively more responsible health care administration experience with strong preference for managed care experience and provider engagement5+ years of experience in a leadership role Experience identifying, evaluating and collaborating with external business partners PC literacy and proficiency in spreadsheet and PowerPoint softwareAbility to interact with and gain support from senior leaders to drive critical decisions in support of initiativesAbility to travel up to 25% Preferred Qualifications: MBA, MPH or MHAProvider or Health system experience Excellent communication and presentation skillsDemonstrated experience leading in a consulting environment Careers with UnitedHealthcare.
